The key point: because the technology travels there, it challenges the power elite of the previously dominant side. Control over knowledge is a position of power — and when that breaks down, you get resistance, unrest, and war. The printing press showed it, the Reformation showed it, and the spread of knowledge around the world has shown it again and again.
So it's not an "AI takes over the world" story, but it's also no pure savior. It's like Gutenberg — a big leap in access to knowledge that turns existing power structures upside down. That's where the conflict comes from — not because the machine suddenly became happy or evil, but because knowledge is power, and controlling knowledge means controlling power.
