Install redmine on a debian9/froxlor system with mariadb 14.08.18

1.
get the redmine source code

hg clone --updaterev 3.4-stable https://bitbucket.org/redmine/redmine-all redmine-3.4

2.
setup database in database.yml

production:
  adapter: mysql2
  database: redmine
  host: localhost
  username: redmine
  password: my_password

3.
install ruby and dependencies  
apt-get install ruby ruby-dev libmagickwand-dev imagemagick libgraphicsmagick++1-dev passenger libapache2-mod-passenger

4.
install bundle
gem install bundler

5.
install all the requirements
bundle install --without development test

6.
create a session key
bundle exec rake generate_secret_token

7.
check if the default mariadb collection is set to utf8_unicode_ci,
if not than set the default database collation to utf8_unicode_ci

8.
create the mariadb tables
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rake db:migrate

9.
set the default lang
RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec rake redmine:load_default_data

10.
set file permission
mkdir -p tmp tmp/pdf public/plugin_assets
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data files log tmp public/plugin_assets
sudo chmod -R 755 files log tmp public/plugin_assets

11.
test it 
bundle exec rails server webrick -e production -b 0.0.0.0

12.
enable apache2 passenger mod

a2enmod passenger
apache2ctl restart

13.
in froxlor set the virtual-host path to the public folder of the redmine project
like
/var/customers/webs/redmine/public

14.
restart forxlor and apache
