How to process and read a uploaded xlsx excel file with codeigniter16.12.14

with phpexcel and its wrapper lib you can do this in the controller:

$config['upload_path'] = './tmp';
    $config['allowed_types'] = 'xlsx';
    $config['max_size']= '1000';
    $this->load->library('upload', $config);
    if (!$this->upload->do_upload()):
      $error = array('error' => $this->upload->display_errors());
      var_dump($error);
    else:
      $data = array('upload_data' => $this->upload->data());
    endif;

$this->load->library('excel');
    $reader= PHPExcel_IOFactory::createReader('Excel2007');
    $reader->setReadDataOnly(true);
    $excel=$reader->load($data['upload_data']['full_path']);
                                                                       
    $sheet=$excel->setActiveSheetIndex(0);
    for($i=2;$i<=77;$i++):
      $col1= $sheet->getCellByColumnAndRow(0,$i)->getValue();
      $col2= $sheet->getCellByColumnAndRow(1,$i)->getValue();
      var_dump($col2);
    endfor;
